Monthly meeting of the Dallas chapter of Native Plant Society of Texas

Speaker/Topic -
Gail Manning is a natural scientist at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Gail is an entomologist and is interested in the pollination partnerships between plants and insects.  She guides the Botanic Garden’s education and citizen science programs.  Before joining the FWBG, Gail was the director of education at Texas Discovery Gardens in Fair Park, Dallas.  Previously she lived in Saint Louis, investigating insecticidal proteins for transgenic plants in Monsanto’s agricultural biotechnology discovery group.  As a curatorial assistant at the Dallas Museum of Natural History, Gail worked in the invertebrate department of research and collections.  She began her career thirty years ago conducting research and development of artificial insect growth hormones in consumer and animal health products.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas at Arlington.  Gail grew up in beautiful Oak Cliff.
