Wild Onions of Texas by Carol Clark - PS-SCF monthly meeting (AT)
Tuesday, January 3, 2012     7:00 PM

Preservation Society for Spring Creek Forest - monthly meeting and speaker

Presentation by Carol Clark on wild onions.  Carol is an amateur botany enthusiast, Texas Master Naturalist with the Blackland Prairie Chapter, and a longtime member of the Native Plant Society of Texas.  She and her husband own and operate Clark Haven, a wildlife preserve in Cooke County.  Carol grew up with a nature photographer father and wildlife artist brother, and has spent much of her life looking around in the great outdoors. A brief collaboration with a PHD student studying wild onions led her to research, collect, appreciate and grow the wild onions of the North Central Texas region.  She'll explain how we can identify the several kinds of onion found near here, and fill us in on some of the underlying weirdness in this group of plants.

Location - North Garland Branch Library, 3845 N. Garland Ave. (at Apollo Rd.).

Public event (FYI).  JEV 11/17/11, rev 12/14/11
