Fair Park Wildscape - Workday for Spring (VH)

Fair Park Wildscape - Workday for Spring (VH)
Wednesday, May 16 6:30 pm 8:00 pm

There will be a workday at our Fair Park Wildscape on Wednesday, May 16, from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm. The Wildscape is a demonstration garden designed and maintained by our Master Naturalist group (reference Texas Wildscapes on the Texas Parks & Wildlife website). Volunteer opportunities include routine maintenance throughout the year, tweaking of the design, and the exhibition of the garden during the State Fair.

On this workday, we may have some new planting to do, but primarily we will weeding, pulling volunteer saplings, cleaning up the garden and spreading mulch. Volunteers are asked to bring whatever tools they like to work with.

The garden is located next to the mastodon just north of the Museum of Nature and Science and at the west end of the Leonhardt Lagoon in Fair Park. If you cannot join us on Wednesday, you should at least try to visit the garden sometime. It is pretty right now, and by late next month the transformation will be stupendous.

There is no need to RSVP; if inclement weather forces a schedule change then I'll broadcast a message to that effect to everyone. If you have any questions, please contact Jim Shouse (Wildscape volunteer coordinator) at j.shouse@sbcglobal.net.
