Monthly Plant Survey at Oakmont Park (Tarrant Co.)

• Location:           Oakmont Park in SW Fort Worth
• This will be an ongoing 2009 monthly plant survey to catalog the native and introduced plants at Oakmont Park in SW Fort Worth.

• Directions (from I-20 and Bryant Irvin Road): South on Bryant Irvin Road, then right on Oakmont Blvd. Follow Oakmont Blvd to Bellaire Dr S. Turn right and the entrance is on the left. Note... It is a small parking lot!

Plant highlights: Pincushion Daisy (Gaillardia suavis), Early Flowering Gayfeather (Liatris aestivalis), Hall's Dalea (Dalea hallii), Purple Locoweed (Oxytropis lambertii=Astragalus), Reverchon's Scurfpea (Pediomelum reverchonii), Texas Bluebells (Eustoma exaltatum subsp. russellianum=grandiflorum), Cutleaf Germander (Teucrium laciniatum), Trout Lily (Erythronium albidum), Hoptree (Ptelea trifoliata subsp. angustifolia var. persicifolia) and Brazilian Vervain (Verbena brasiliensis) *an introduced invasive!.

Rules and Policies:

• No Smoking. Please be responsible.
• Collecting is prohibited. No fossils, rocks, plants (unless for plant specimens or collections). Take only the experience with you. Leave everything else.
• Make sure you bring plenty of water with you.
• Dress appropriately. Most of the fieldtrips will be for exploration away from manicured trails and public areas.
