The wetland restoration at Rochester Park is a joint project of the National Park Service, Groundwork Dallas, LLELA, LAERF and the North Texas Chapter.  This project was established a few months ago when the National Park Service put in an application for a grant for this purpose.  They did not get the grant but they did decide to go ahead with the project to help improve the wetland area in Rochester Park.  The National Park Service changed the date from the 13th to the 20th so we could participate so I hope that a good many of you can help on that date.

This is a great opportunity to learn about wetland restorations, wetland plants, and how and where to plant them.

• When: 10-20-07, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
• Wear: Shoes in which you can wade into muddy water, heavy-duty gloves.
• Bring: Sunscreen, mosquito-repellant, etc.

Directions: From the West:  From S. Central Expressway, follow signs to 310 and 175 – CF Hawn Freeway.  As soon as 310 makes a 90 degree easterly turn and becomes 175, take the 2nd exit and an immediately right onto Municipal.  At the intersection of  Municipal and Rochester is the location of the Sump pump station/levee road.  Once you drive up over the levee to the right of the sump pump station, you will see the pond.  1st pond over the levee is the worksite.  If you have been to the Buckeye Trail work days, you can exit on Bexar (which is the first exit from 175) go down to Rochester St. and turn left.  Where it makes a 90 degree turn left is the entrance to the park on your right.
 
From the East:  From 175 heading West, take Railroad Avenue exit, go down the access road to Municipal and take a left on Municipal.  There is no exit for Municipal from 175.
 
To use Mapquest, use address of 3131 Rochester St. Dallas, Tx  75215 to get a map of the area. This is map to general area of the intersection of Municipal and Rochester.  If you are looking at the map, you would go almost straight ahead to the Sump Pump.  Or, when you get to this location, you should see the sump pump station and you would drive to the right of the sump pump station.”
