Highlights from March Announcements
North Texas Regional Center of Expertise Kick-Off
- The North Texas Regional Center of Expertise is a coalition of local nonprofits, municipalities, educational institutions, businesses and other sustainability advocates interested in working together to promote the UN sustainability goals.
- The Kick-Off event is open to all and is being held at University of Texas at Arlington on March 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is a free event and includes lunch.
- The Regional Center of Expertise is one of seven centers established in the United States. It’s focus is on education whereas the North Texas Council of Governments is focused on policy.
- If you can attend the event, please report back to the chapter. It’s goals seem compadtible with what our chapter is about.

Free Trees for Dallas Residents
- The trees will be available to pickup March 9 and we need your help to distribute them to residents.

Spring Events Need Volunteers
- We have a number of events which will need volunteers this spring.
- We have a booth at EarthX at Fair Park on Earth Day weekend
- Seed Bomb at EarthX
- Oak Cliff Earth Day
- Garland Earth Day
- Farm and Ranch Day at Scottish Rite Hospital
- LOLA Science Night

Irish Fest is this Weekend
- We have a booth at Irish Fest each year.
- If you are volunteering at Irish Fest and weren’t able to pickup your complementary ticket at the chapter meeting on Wednesday, Lee Kelton will place your ticket at the ticket booth Will Call window.

Big Chapter Project
- The spring Big Chapter Project will held at Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, May 4.
- The Friends of a Feather Open House will be held Saturday, May 18, at Rogers so the public can see what goes on at the rehabilitation center.

Order NTMN Logowear
- We are ordering the logowear for the spring class and members may also place an order to be included with that of the class.
- If you use the group order you won’t have to pay the $30 fee for a small order or pay for shipping. Everything will be sent together and Charlie will deliver the orders to the chapter at the May meeting.
- Details about logowear are in the announcements. Orders must be placed by March 22.
Environmental Change Quotient
- Jane Duke distributed questionnaires at the February chapter meeting which asked about climate change.
- Jane compiled the results and they are discussed in the announcements. There wasn’t time at the meeting for Jane to talk about the results, but her written commentary about results are in the announcements.
Texas Waters Training
- If you haven’t been able to attend the Texas Waters Training at the Texas Master Naturalist Annual Conference that training will be available on North Texas in April.
- The training will take place on Bonham State Park on Wednesday, April 17.
- Once you complete the initial training you may work on projects in the Texas Waters Program.
- The training is free and available to Master Naturalists and qualified for Advanced Traininig (AT).

- Dana Wilson told us about the GoFundMe that Dana, Stephanie Varnum, and Charlie Hess setup to pay the setup charge to make an orchid-gami of our native orchid theHexalectris warnockii.
