The December chapter meeting will be the Awards Banquet at the Texas Discovery Garden on Wednesday, December 5.
You will be receiving an Evite for the event in the next few days so you can reserve a place for yourself and a guest and tell us what you will be bringing.
November 2018 Meeting Announcements.
Hours Entry At the End of the Year
- To be recognized for your hours at the Awards Banquet you will need to enter them into VMS by November 17.
- Completing the 40 volunteer hours and 8 advanced training hours are needed for annual certification. If you want to be recognized at the Awards Banquet you will have to enter your hours into VMS by November 15.
- If you finish the year with 40 VH and 8 AT but can’t enter the hours before November 15, you will be considered certified but you won’t be recognized at the Awards Banquet. You will still be certified for this year.
- You may continue to earn hours through the end of the year. Having 45 days to enter your hours, what you have completed by the end of the year can be entered into VMS through February 14.
Budgets for Projects Are Due
- Project leaders should have their numbers to the treasurers for what they will need to spend in 2019.
- Use 2019 Project budget template and then send the spreadsheet to tr*******@nt**.orgtr*******@nt**.org” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>.
- We are not automatically carrying forward what was budgeted in 2018; if you don’t reapply, funds won’t be available.
- The board needs to finalize the 2019 budget at the December board meeting.
Executive Board Approved for 2019-2020 Term
- The slate presented at the October meeting was approved by acclimation by the membership present at the November chapter meeting.
- The new members of the executive board are listed in the announcements.
- Thank everyone on the new board for their service.
Clymer Meadow Work Day Friday November 9
- The work day at Clymer Meadow is on Friday this week, not Saturday.
- We are fortunate to have Brandon Belcher managing Clymer Meadow for The Nature Conservancy. He has opened it up for us and others to help with the maintenance of the facility.
- Use the Google Map Coordinates in the announcement to get to Clymer Meadow. You may find the directions to the address listed may not take you to the entrance to Clymer Meadow.
Saturday is a Busy Workday
- We have had several activities rained out this fall that have been rescheduled for this Saturday, November 10. You will be welcomed to help at any of these events.

Three Major Initiatives Set for 2019
- We are the host chapter for the 2019 Texas Master Naturalist Annual Conference next October in Rockwall.
- We will be hosting an urban wildlife conference in August. Sam Kieschnick will prepare a program and our chapter will handle the administration for the event.
- Dallas County has sold the building on Marsh Lane and has purchased the Brinker International building on LBJ at Hillcrest. A move isn’t likely until September. We will follow the progress as the plan for the Brinker building are developed.
