Description of Project: A rehabilitation hospital/facility for injured raptors and education of the public about birds of prey and their role in nature within our North Texas environment. The center provides an education center open to the public and conducts dozens of live raptor teaching presentations at Dallas area high schools, fairs, nature organizations, and public events.
Volunteers help by caring for and feeding resident raptors, cleaning the facility, building cages/flyways, participating in rehab exercises, assisting in medical procedures, and conducting live educational presentations.

2022 Activities
- The Blackland Prairie Raptor Center is a state and federally-licensed non-profit organization to environmental preservation through public education and the rehabilitation and conservation of birds of prey in their natural habitat.
- The TMN Volunteer Hours may include: The feeding of resident raptors, cleaning the facility, building cages/flyways, participating in rehab exercises, assisting in medical procedures, and conducting live educational presentations. Master Naturalists also provide guided walks thru the on-site blackland prairie and may also assist the center in other public-facing roles.
- In order to work in the Raptor Rehabilitation department, it requires a formal application and training process, as well as a minimum 1-year commitment. There are a limited number of training windows for volunteers each year.
