Cedar Ridge Preserve

Located just 20 minutes from downtown Dallas, at an elevation of 755 feet, Cedar Ridge Preserve (formerly the Dallas Nature Center) is a slice of the hill country. Cedar Ridge Preserve is a natural habitat of 600 acres featuring about 9 miles of trails, native trees, grasses and wildflowers, butterfly gardens, limited picnic areas, and wild mammals, birds, insects and reptiles. CRP has been managed by Audubon Dallas since April 2003 by charter from the Dallas County Park & Open Space Program and the City of Dallas.

Volunteers help restore, preserve and maintain prairie, woodland and wetland areas. They lead nature walks and other activities and participate in biological surveys and censuses.

2023 Activities – 24 volunteers with 695 hours of service performed

• Monthly Junior Ranger Program is led by NTMNs. It was started in Feb, 2023
• NTMN had a big group project in April to remove privet from future prairie planting sites
• Members have helped maintain the Pollinator Garden
• Members were part of the Summer Orchid survey project
• Members helped teach about big cats, and lead walks
• Chalk walk days were run by NTMN helping children draw animals/nature
• Nature hikes were lead in Spanish by NTMN
• NTMN helped in the Fall Prairie Planting where 420 native plants were planted in areas cleared by NTMN
• Assisted with trail maintenance {putting rock and mulch on trails}, trimmed branches, removed invasive plants along the trails, in prairies and in the woods, helped park cars, collected native plant seeds
• Led an edible plant walk/talk
