Beautification, conservation, restoration, maintenance of Dallas parkland and open spaces in accordance with the guidelines, directions and beautification agreements of Dallas Park and Recreation Dept. Project goals are to involve the community in caring for parks, educate the public about wise use of natural resources, build pride in caring for city parks, and promote appreciation and conservation of the city’s green spaces.
Volunteers engage in plant and wildlife surveys, seed harvesting, invasive species removal, native species planting, trash and debris removal, as well as education and outreach events.

2023 Activities – 42 volunteers with 529 hours of service performed (all sites)
- Northaven Trail:
- Maintained native plant/pollinator gardens along the trail, in 5 distinct garden beds.
- Created new native plant gardens at the Pensive Trail Head, planted hundreds of new native plants in an irrigated, managed bed that will showcase the beauty and benefit of native plants as habitat.
- Planted hundreds of native milkweed plugs with the help of Texas Conservation Alliance and Monarch Watch.
- Worked with Girl Scout troops and a community organization to design and install new native plant gardens at Welch Road intersection.
- Created a new garden bed design for installation at the Royal Park intersection that will become a respite and place of beauty for humans and native species.
- Volunteers worked at our Prairie Restoration area west of Inwood Road to plant more native plants and to rid the area of noxious invasive weeds.
- Met with young girl scouts (Brownies) to educate them on the monarch butterfly migration and the importance of pollinator gardens.
- Worked to transition one of our no mow areas from native annuals to native perennials.
- Oak Cliff area parks – Friends of Oak Cliff Parks with regular workdays that added native plants, removed invasives, and hosted guided bird, insect and plant hikes
