2025 Volunteer Projects Annual Report

The North Texas Master Naturalists chapter closed 2025 with its most productive year on record — 28,207 volunteer hours across 77 active projects, representing a 9% increase over 2024. Seven new projects launched, and six projects each surpassed 1,000 hours of service.

Texas Discovery Gardens

2,304 hrs · 44 volunteers Refurbishing the Benny Simpson Native Plant Collection, butterfly conservatory docents, greenhouse seed starting, and State Fair outreach.

Twelve Hills Nature Center

1,025 hrs · 36 volunteers Weekly prairie restoration, Nature Leaders youth program (18 students), Little Bisons preschool series, and the center's 20th anniversary festival.

Trinity River Audubon Center

1,238 hrs · 40 volunteers Habitat restoration, bird walks, moth nights, BioBlitz events, and visitor orientation at the Great Trinity Forest.

Cemetery Constellation

1,464 hrs · 42 volunteers Ecological restoration across five historic cemeteries, launch of the CLM 4-H Environmental Leadership Program, and large-scale invasive removal.

DFW Wildlife Coalition

1,098 hrs · 19 volunteers Wildlife hotline handling thousands of calls — reunification guidance, humane conflict resolution, and education on native species.

Preservation Society — Spring Creek Forest

1,157 hrs · 53 volunteers Monthly workdays, public walks, invasive workshops, city council advocacy, and three plant rescues from damaged preserve sections.
