April Program: Save the Night: Life on Earth Depends on Natural Darkness

Almost every living thing on our planet uses the cycle of light and dark to trigger life processes. Humans have come to depend on artificial light for nighttime activities. So, how does artificial light at night affect fauna, flora, and even humans? This presentation is a peek into our natural world after dark and the effect that artificial light has on it. We learned about how artificial lighting affects life, and outdoor lighting practices that let us have the light we need while saving energy, reducing glare, and limiting negative consequences on the environment.
