Description: Tour an area of restored Blackland Prairie and enjoy the summer wildflowers in bloom on this prairie walk with Richard Freiheit, LLELA’s Restoration Manager.
Participants will visit Barn Owl Ridge, an area of LLELA typically closed to the public, and learn about its restoration – from pasture land to self-sustaining prairie ecosystem. As you enjoy the sights and sounds of the prairie, Richard will explain the processes of restoration, from prescribed burns to invasives’ removal and native grass propagation and planting.
For your comfort and safety, please wear long pants and closed-toed shoes and bring drinking water. Sunscreen and insect repellent are also recommended.
Fees: There is no additional fee for this class, just LLELA’s regular gate fee ($5/vehicle).
