Friends of Oak Cliff Parks || Paw Crawl Nature Hike (AT)
Sunday, June 16, 2024 9am– 11am
Join us for a walk along the trails of Kiest Conservation Area in Oak Cliff, with your dog and their “leashed” owners. Our nature walk will include a brief history of the Kiest Conservation Area and it’s native prairie, points of natural interest and a walk on the new, as yet, unnamed eastern trail. Plan to join us for some green exercise as we slow down and put on our “nature eyes”.
Our guides are Roger Bolen & Jon Papp. Roger is a long time officer and board member of FOCP and a gifted nature lover who tracked through the hills of West Virginia as a kid. Jon, also a long-time board member and officer of FOCP, is a member of North Texas Master Naturalists and a Citizen Forester,
The conservation area is an 88 acre tract of land with an island of native Texas prairie. Over 150 wildflower species were identified by master naturalist legend Jim Varnum eleven years ago.
We will be meeting in the recently completed outdoor classroom. Everyone is invited to attend, and there is no charge. Closed toed shoes are recommended. Water and insect repellant will be provided.
