A research center for scientists as well as an education venue for the community. BRIT consists of a herbarium with over a million plant specimens, a botanical library with over 125,000 volumes of books and journals, classrooms, work and exhibit areas. BRIT is adjacent to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

Volunteers assist with research projects, educator professional development workshops, special events and youth programming. They prepare specimens and documentation and assist in the botanical library. Volunteers also greet visitors and serve as tour docents.

2024 Activities – 8 volunteers with 607 hours of service performed

  • Herbarium (specimen processing and curation), including Armchair Botanist program (transcribing and georeferencing digital specimens).
