The Historic Tree Coalition is a local citizens’ group concerned with the identification, preservation, and public acknowledgment of historic trees in our area, including Indian marker trees. The group also participates in public education events, tours and guided nature walks.

Volunteers are always welcome! Ways to participate include working outside among the trees, doing research, studying maps, and helping with general organization and record keeping.

2024 Activities –   5 volunteers with 562 hours of service performed

  • Received over 50 nominations across Texas for Indian Marker Tree sites and Historic Tree sites.
  • Provided advocacy advice and support for several endangered tree sites across the state.
  • Produced two newsletters on Texas Historic Tree Coalition activities and related tree preservation news.
  • Recognized 4 new historic tree sites: Magnolia Cemetery on Montrose Blvd in Houston, McDade Estates in Conroe, Shorecrest Drive in the Bluffview neighborhood of Dallas, & Reverchon Park in Dallas.
