Rowlett Pollinator Habitats

The City of Rowlett is designated as a Bee City with the Xerces Society. The Bee City committee within the Keep Rowlett Beautiful organization is responsible for implementing Rowlett’s Bee City program. Bee Cities promote pollinator-friendly environments by educating citizens and supporting local pollinator gardens. Although this project is Rowlett centric, it is not a requirement for volunteers to live in Rowlett. Volunteer opportunities include:

· Volunteering on the Bee City committee – The Bee City committee plans outreach events, designs new pollinator gardens, and plans the maintenance for existing pollinator gardens.

· Volunteering at Bee City Events – The Bee City committee hosts two seminars on gardening for pollinators each year for the citizens of Rowlett. Volunteers are needed to set-up/clean-up, man organizational and education booths, lead nature walks, and even present at the event.

· Volunteering in the Pollinator Gardens – Volunteers are needed to plant, weed, and water the existing Rowlett pollinator gardens (Chamber of Commerce & Coyle House) as well as proposed pollinator gardens (Schrade Bluebonnet Park).
