Oakland Cemetery is the second oldest cemetery in Dallas County, established in 1890. Before
becoming a cemetery the property was never used for agriculture or developed in any way.
Because of this it is home to much anthropological and natural history (much of it genetically
native to the land) providing a unique opportunity to introduce those visiting for the human
history to the presence of the natural history.
NTMN will lead guided tours during public events being held at the cemetery, propagate and
transplanting plants only found within the cemetery for future use, assist with select plant
species collection with BRIT, and lead groups of volunteers from businesses and schools on special
workdays as they arise.
There are 2 NTMN Project Leads: Michael Puttonen 469-758-9222 mi*************@***il.com and Joseph Ebright 310-347-7554 jn**********@**.com
