Urban Wildlife Information Network (UWIN)

Project Title:  Urban Wildlife Information Network (UWIN)
Project Website:
https://www.urbanwildlifenetwork.org/

Urban Wildlife Information Network (UWIN) is the first global network collecting urban wildlife data. This network provides tools for scientists, city planners, and wildlife managers to understand, conserve, and manage wildlife on our rapidly urbanizing planet.

The focus is monitoring wildlife along the urban to rural gradient using camera traps, resulting in the gradient becoming the transect for data collection purposes. Volunteers are needed to set up camera traps in the to-be-specified area, view, and tag the wildlife photographed by the cameras, and submit the results to the UWIN organization. This project incorporates education, monitoring, habitat, and wildscapes.

The goal is to contribute to the UWIN project, which is focused on advancing the field of urban wildlife ecology. Further details and mission statement can be found on their website. This project will also improve our understanding of wildlife in Dallas.

The project affords the volunteers involved the opportunity to learn about the wildlife that exists in urban areas and contributes to the broader goal of the initiative of the organization. Volunteers also have the opportunity to present their findings at outreach events and/or by making a presentation to the chapter.
